The European Accessibility Act sets common accessibility rules across the European Union.

The EAA applies. The digital products and services it covers, including e-commerce, must be accessible.
Today

End of the transition period for certain services already in place before 2025. Until then, it is better to spread the fixes out over time than to do them all at the last minute.

Questions about Lucia and the EAA

Isn't an accessibility overlay enough?
No. Overlays add a layer on top of the problem without fixing the root cause, and are widely criticized. Lucia fixes the code and the content at the source, which benefits all of your visitors and helps search engines understand your pages.
Does the European Accessibility Act apply to me?
The EAA applies to many digital products and services sold in the EU since 28 June 2025, with a transition period until 28 June 2030 for certain services already in place. Some micro-enterprises may be exempt. When in doubt, check your situation with legal counsel.
Does Lucia guarantee my legal compliance?
Lucia applies the technical WCAG 2.1 AA criteria and documents your efforts. For an absolute legal guarantee, no automated solution fully replaces a human audit. Lucia takes care of the technical side and keeps it up to date as your site changes.
